Winter Park Activities
Scenic Chairlift Rides Now there is a way for Winter Park visitors to experience the majestic beauty of the Colorado Rockies without skis or snowboards. Hop on the Zephyr Express Chairlift after 11am daily and enjoy a scenic ride up to The Lodge at Sunspot for lunch. A 12-15 minute Zephyr Express chairlift ride will whisk you from the base area altitude of 9,000' elevation to the breathtaking Sunspot Summit at 10,700'.
Just imagine, now you non-skiers can take in the Colorado Rockies and meet the rest of your skiing and riding buddies for lunch at The Lodge at Sunspot! Wear warm clothes, appropriate snow footwear, hat, gloves and eye protection - and make sure to bring your camera!
Lift: Foot passengers are allowed ONLY on the Zephyr Express chairlift. Time: Ticketed Foot Passengers may upload starting at 11am. Downloads are allowed between 12:00-1:00pm or 1:30-3:00pm. Foot passengers are not allowed to load prior to 11am, between 1:00-1:30, or after 3:00.
Price: $25 foot passenger tickets* are available daily for all guests age 6 or older. Kids 5 & under are free with a parent or guardian. Available at Balcony House ticket windows, Group Ticketing, or the Balcony House Guest Services desk. Note: Foot passenger tickets are designed for non-skiers/riders only. Passholders or ticketed skiers and riders are not allowed to ride a chairlift without equipment.
Scenic Snowcat Tours Enjoy a sightseeing tour of Winter Park mountain in a heated 13 passenger snowcat. Two-hour tours depart daily at 10:00am, 12:00pm and 2:00pm. This loop tour travels across beginner, intermediate, and expert trails, making several stops along the way for photos.
Departs: For the 2005/2006 Season, we will offer Thanksgiving tours with regular tours beginning in early December and continuing through mid-April. Times: Two hour tours, 10:00am, 12:00pm, 2:00pm. Please meet 15 minutes prior to departure time at Guest Services in the Balcony House. Price: $39 adult & Children 3 or under free if they can sit on an adult's lap. Dress: Dress for winter weather as you will be walking on the snow during arrival and departure and scenic stops along the way. Wear shoes suitable for snow, a jacket, and sunglasses. Also suggest gloves, hats, scarfs, andof course, a CAMERA! Groups: Reserve an entire snowcat for 2 hours for just $390. Group charters are available during off-peak hours. Ski Train Guests: Book early to ensure a tour reservation! Call 800.729.7907 to book your snwocat or snowshoe tour. All Snowcat tours fit the Ski Train schedule. The 2:00pm tour will drop you off a little before 4:00 PM, in plenty of time for your 4:15 train departure. Where to go: All tour guests (with or without reservations) should go directly to the Guest Services Center in Balcony House. Advance reservations are strongly recommended for all tours. Snowshoe Tours Try something different! This relaxing walk through the backcountry is perfect for non-skiers and first time snowshoers. The tour route travels off-the-beaten-path along wildlife game trails and summer mountain biking trails. Learn more about native plants and animals and enjoy the peaceful quiet of the forest. Tours include use of Redfeather snowshoes and a one-time lift pass on Gemini Express and a knowledgeable tour guide to lead your way. Tours begin in late November and continue through April 1.
Self-Guided Snowshoe Hikes If you're feeling adventurous and prefer to head out on your own path, Redfeather snowshoe rentals are available at Balcony House Guest Services located in the Balcony House at the base of Winter Park Resort. A self-guided trail map and list of nearby trail routes is also available.
